I don't sit glued to the iPad following whoever is the next person who has an opinion about METALLICA. I know that almost on a daily basis there is some musician somewhere who gets asked what he thinks about Glastonbury and METALLICA, and I find the good in that — that after more than thirty years, we can still get talked about. We did the [Orion Music + More] festivals for a couple of years, we did the Lou Reed thing ['Lulu' album collaboration]. All those things were a lot of fun, and certainly, I think, very inspiring. So everybody's very excited about us performing a song tonight we've never played live. It's never been performed live. There aren't many of those, [laughs] especially from the early records. There was one a couple of years ago called 'Escape' that we played from the 'Ride The Lightning' album the first time about two summers ago. And tonight, the world premiere of 'The Frayed Ends Of Sanity', live and direct from Helsinki, Finland..."

KIRK HAMMETT On LOU REED Collaboration 'Lulu', 'I Love That Album To Death' - June 1, 2014 In a brand new interview with Finland's MTV, METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett said that he still stands proudly behind "Lulu", the band's controversial collaborative album with former THE VELVET UNDERGROUND frontman Lou Reed. "Lulu" polarized fans around the world and earned METALLICA some of the most scathing reviews of its career. The effort featured the former THE VELVET UNDERGROUND frontman's spoken-word poetry and lyrics combined with METALLICA's musical assault for a jarring experience that didn't sound like anything METALLICA had ever attempted before. A concept album based on two early-20th-century plays by German author Frank Wedekind, the CD was co-produced by Reed, METALLICA, Hal Willner — who has produced albums for Reed, Marianne Faithfull, and Laurie Anderson, among others — and Greg Fidelman. Fidelman also mixed the record. "When we were recording with Lou, it was the first time we were actually ever recording with someone outside the band, and so, we were a little bit nervous about how it would turn out," Hammett recalled. "But Lou guided those sessions; I mean, his personality came through..."

Video footage of this rare performance can be seen at this location. Amos made headlines in 2011 when she told Spinner.com that she wasn't surprised when she learned that wrestling superstar Mick Foley was a fan of her music, claiming that the emotion in her songs is more powerful than anything the heaviest of metal bands can churn out. Amos said, "Sometimes you don't know how music affects people. I embrace that because I don't think that just because I talk about emotional stuff that it's not motherfucker stuff. I'll stand next to the hardest fucking heavy metal band on any stage in the world and take them down, alone, by myself. Gauntlet laid down, see who steps up. See who steps up!" She continued, "I'll take them down at 48. And they know I will. Because emotion has power that the metal guys know is just you can't touch it. Insanity can't touch the soul. Ukranian pianist Viktoriya Yermolyeva Playing Master of Puppets - December 26, 2013 She’s a classically trained, award-winning musician … and Ukranian pianist Viktoriya Yermolyeva is also a Master of Puppets.
